Art Festival July 21 at the Library!
July 21, 2005
Please join us at the South Boston Branch Library on Thursday, July 21 as we present our 34th Annual Art Festival, an exhibit of the works of adult and young adult artists from the South Boston community. The Art Festival will be held in the Library's lovely walled garden, where under the shade of our beautiful greenery we will offer not only a wonderful display of artwork but also inspiring musical accompaniment by South Boston's Robert Dunlap, and refreshments to keep us cool. And in conjunction with the Art Festival, this year we are piloting The Community Canvas Tote & Tile Project, a program which we hope will also become a yearly event. The Community Canvas Tote & Tile Project, the creation of the Library's own Laurel Moreau which is sponsored by the Friends of the South Boston Branch, is an opportunity for people of all ages to participate in a project that is a unique way to celebrate community. Materials will be provided for anyone who wants to participate and submit a drawing, painting, sketch, or prose entry. Seven entries will be randomly selected to be a part of a collage that will be transferred onto a tile that will be on exhibit at the Library, and onto canvas tote bags that will be available for sale at the Library's Book Sales-your own original creation immortalized! All proceeds from the Project will benefit the South Boston and Washington Village Branch Libraries. Don't miss out on this chance for you and your children to be a part of a special community event. The Project and the Art Festival will be held on Thursday, July 21, beginning at 1 p.m. at the South Boston Branch, 646 East Broadway, South Boston. For more information, please call the Library at 617-268-0180.
