Resident Parking – a Reprise
|
This is a brief summary of the Resident Parking Program (the RPP), in case any of our readers missed prior articles on this topic:
1.- The RPP signs are being put in place right now. Enforcement of the RPP will begin next Monday, August 8.
2.- You must obtain your first Resident Parking Permit in person at Room 224, City Hall (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for info call 617-635-4682). In the future, permits can be obtained by mail.
3.- Bring two items with you to Room 224 – a valid auto registration showing that your car is registered in your name and “principally garaged” in South Boston, along with a current “proof of residency” in South Boston, such as a utility bill, a bank statement, or a credit card bill bearing your South Boston address.
4.- The RPP regulations will be enforced in South Boston from 6 p.m. until 10 a.m. (evening, nighttime, and early morning hours) from Monday through Friday – no enforcement on weekends.
5.- A certain number of parking slots will be available for visitors and shoppers, generally having a two-hour limit.
6.- The South Boston RPP will be monitored until early 2006, when final adjustments to the RPP will be made. Parking tickets may be contested, if desired.
