Stolen Lighthouse Artwork Needs to be Returned

No doubt that most South Boston residents have seen or heard about the “Lighthouses on Broadway” project. It was a year in the planning and execution and finally 60 panels, eight feet by two feet painted by the young people of South Boston’s “Young At Arts” program have graced the sidewalks of Broadway.

Sometime over the past weekend, two beautiful lighthouses were stolen from their West Broadway location. The pieces were done with much love and care by young women who took numerous hours to produce them in the hopes that they would be enjoyed by local residents and help beautify the neighborhood.

These original piece of artwork needs to be returned immediately. It’s pretty hard to miss or to hide them. They are 8 feet tall. One is of a beautiful a beautiful Celtic cross and the other is of a claddagh and a rosary. Whoever stole them obviously missed the point.

The pieces can be returned to the South Boston Community Health Center at 409 West Broadway or the South Boston Arts Association at E and West Broadway, no questions asked.

Anyone with knowledge of the theft is asked to call either Dan McCole at 617-464-4237 or Mayra Rodriguez Howard at 617-464-7423.

If the artwork is not returned immediately, any information provided to us about the theft will be turned over to the police and we will aggressively pursue prosecution of the responsible individuals.
