Woman's Self Defense Course Is Filled

The woman’s self defense course sponsored by the South Boston Elected officials, the South Boston Crime Watch and the Boston Police Department was filled in a very short time and is no longer enrolling students for this course. The self defense course has been extremely well received judging from the initial response and organizers are planning on setting up a second self defense course in a very short time.

“The Boston Police Department gave us a number that we were told we couldn’t exceed and that number was very quickly reached,” according to State Representative Brian Wallace. “Senator Hart, Councilors Kelly, Flaherty and myself were inundated with calls that very first day it was publicized. We are going to try to put together another class as soon as the Boston Police gives us some dates which will work for them and for us. We want to especially thank Bryan Van Dorpe and all the people at the Neighborhood House for allowing us to use the Senior Center on four successive Saturdays,” Wallace stated.

The Crime Watch Symposium is being held this Saturday at the Convention Center from 10AM – 2PM. It is free and all resident who are concerned with crime in our neighborhood. There will be free parking for the event.
