| Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund Announces 2006 Program |
The South Boston Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Trust Fund announces their program for the year 2006. The fund will award up to seven (7) one-thousand dollar scholarship grants. Six of the grants will be academic in nature and one will be for non-degree applicants.
The academic grants are for those students who reside in South Boston (02127), will graduate from high school in 2006 or have received a GED certificate since January, 2006. Of the six academic grants, one will be in memory of Bob Nichols, two have been funded by Massport and three (3) will be trust fund selections.
The non-degree scholarship grant is for those students who reside in South Boston (02127), who will graduate from high school in 2006 or have earned a GED certificate since January 1, 2006, and plan to attend a school of advanced education training in 2006. Examples of non-degree programs are computer training, cosmetology, nursing, culinary arts, auto mechanics or other technical or professional training programs approved by the board of trustees of the “FUND”.
Complete details of each program are described on the scholarship application, which may be picked up at school, the South Boston Library, the Boys & Girls Club, The Tynan Community Center, Neighborhood House, or the Curley Community Center.
