| All-City Baseball Classic Rescheduled for June 19 |
Due to a Red Sox doubleheader, the annual All-City High School Baseball Classic originally scheduled for Fenway Park has been rescheduled to take place at Boston English High School, 144 McBride Street, Jamaica Plain at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 19.
The all-star event is being hosted by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Boston Centers for Youth and Families and is exclusively sponsored by Comcast and the Police Activities League in cooperation with the Boston Parks and Recreation Department.
The Baseball Classic will showcase All-Stars from 16 Boston public high schools competing in two divisions, North and South, with players selected by their coaches. Admission to the public is free.
Teammates, coaches, students, school staff, friends, and families will gather to cheer on their favorite athletes, and New England colleges and university athletic departments are contacted to invite coaches and scouts to the games. Academic achievement will be recognized with awards presented to selected scholar/athletes from each school with a grade point average of 3.0 or better. All players will receive awards for their participation in this event during an awards presentation immediately after the game. Participating high schools include Latin Academy, Boston English, J. D. O’Bryant, Brighton, J. E. Burke, Charlestown, Dorchester, East Boston, Hyde Park, Madison Park, Snowden, South Boston, Boston International, Fenway, New Mission and West Roxbury.
