     Both the 18 and 15 Under Girls BNBL teams from the Tynan Community School came up a bit short in championship games on the Fens last week.

     The 18 and Under South Boston Eagles battled hard all game against the Lady Dolphins, an AAU team that plays together year round, eventually falling 50 to 40. This has become the norm for BNBL in recent years with AAU squads entering the leagues around the city in what I feel is taking the key word out of BNBL,  “Neighborhood”.

     The Eagles are a collection of Southie friends and ex-CYO teammates coached by Debbie and Courtney Duffy and include Christine Duffy, Gretchen Fritch, Kaitlin Carr, Ashley Miller, Molly Casper, Stephanie Litterio, Christine Kelly, Alexis Quigg, Katie Nolan and Jamie Lee Pickup.

     Southie’s 15 and Under Gate of Heaven team coached by Bernie O’Donnell fell to the LOP squad by 15. Gatey found themselves behind quickly and played much better in the 2nd half led by Laura O’Donnell and Ainsely Cuddyer.

     Congratulations to our South Boston girls for another successful season.
