| Mona Connolly: A Brief Memoriam |
Occasionally, a rare person comes along – a person who leaves fond memories with everyone that knew her. Mona Connolly was such a person.
Her awards, achievements, and recognitions are legion. Mona was a clubwoman, churchwoman, entrepreneur, world traveler, political activist, community supporter, devoted resident of South Boston, woman of courage, wife, loving mother, and equally loving grandmother. At home, she genially presided over the tides and the tempests in the Harbor from the vantage point of her balcony on Farragut Road.
Mona dropped into the South Boston Online office frequently. She came in her role of a locally successful businesswoman, the proprietress of Seapoint. We were very fortunate to be privileged to work with her on marketing Seapoint in South Boston and the nearby areas.
But more important, Mona was a welcome visitor here. It was time for a conversation break whenever she walked in our door – a break punctuated by her broad smiles and laughter. She wore her successes lightly, dismissing any attempt to praise her or compliment her with that trademark wave of her hand and toss of her head. We shall miss her.
Godspeed and farewell, Mona.
