On September 7 we welcomed our K2 to 6 grade students, families, faculty and staff to another wonderful school year of faith, family and academic excellence at South Boston Catholic Academy. In the morning we gathered in the school yard, with our school community for morning prayer.
In the classroom, Ms. McCarthy read “First Day Jitters” by Julie Danneberg to her brand new first graders. We were not expecting the surprise ending! After a class discussion, we learned that many of us had the jitters on our first day of school – including Ms. McCarthy! We took care of that by learning a new poem called, “Jitter Juice.” Of course, we then had to make jitter juice. It was extra fun when we got to shake the magic sprinkles into our cups. It worked! No more jitters! Ms. McCarthy and her students can tell we are off to a great beginning for an exciting year in first grade! In the evening we welcomed all the families to our Early Childhood Parent Information Night.
On Friday, September 10 the faculty took part in the Opening School Mass at St. Brigid Church. Monsignor Liam Bergin was the celebrant at this Mass. Monday, September 12 marked our first full week back to school and the first day of school for our students in the Early Childhood Program. This Thursday, September 15 we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our Open House for grades K2 to 6 at 6PM. We are off to a great start to a great new school year!
