Peggy Woods was born and raised in South Boston in an Irish-American family with deep cultural roots.  She and her sisters began dancing at an early age, and as a result of their hard work and determination, Peggy and Rose earned several awards at the regional and national level and hence developed their passion for Irish Dance.  Twenty five years ago, as young adults, Peggy and Roseann Woods launched their own Irish Dance School so they could preserve this strong aspect of Irish culture. Special events taking place as part of the City of Boston’s annual July 4th celebration will require street closings and parking restrictions at select locations in Boston.  People coming into the City to enjoy the festivities are strongly encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles.  People coming into Boston to attend are encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles.  Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, may be found at http://bluebikes.com and information on the MBTA may be found at www.mbta.com. For a faster return trip, the MBTA advises riders to purchase a round-trip rather than a one-way ticket. Walking is also a great way to move around Boston. A new pilot program debuted at the Condon Community Center last Wednesday, the 22nd - “Condon Connects”. BPD Officer Michelle Maffeo from Bureau of Community Engagement lead the presentation encouraging families living with a disability to connect with: each other, many of the  high-lighted resources, and, the Condon Community Center Last Wednesday evening, May 22, South Boston’s Condon Community Center was the site of an in-depth presentation of a newly conceived pilot program - “Condon Connects”. The Joseph Nee South Boston Collaborative Center, known for its mission of combatting substance abuse and the addiction that stems from such abuse, will hold their “Spring Fling” fundraiser on Thursday evening, June 6, from 6 to 10 p.m.  The venue will be the Convention Center’s Lawn on D, an outdoor retreat that has become so popular that it’s frequently called “South Boston’s Playground”.  Which it certainly is! The high point of the evening will be honoring Boston Fire Department (the BFD) Commissioner Joseph E.
