The Team Opportunity Foundation held a fundraiser at Carson Place on Saturday, May 14. Hundreds of people attended to support this new endeavor and had a great time seeing old friends and dancing to the music supplied by well-known DJ, Dru Errico.
The drug epidemic has worsened and local resident Thomas McCarthy, was devastated by what he has witnessed. But this devastation turned into inspiration for McCarthy, inspiration to found the Team Opportunity pilot program, a one-to-two year plan in a very structured environment offering an intense, 12-step program. He hopes to open this house in June in Quincy. But he needs help.
“I’m trying to get people involved in the process,” McCarthy said. “I’m trying to get rid of the stigma attached to this issue so people won’t be hesitant to help out. It’s nothing to be ashamed about. It happens and we need to address the issue head on and help those in need.”
