I have worked on and off at Fun in the Sun for nearly 5 years starting as a junior counselor back in high school. They are happy, polite, young girls who are having a blast this summer spending quality time at the Joseph M. Tierney Learning Center (TLC), which is located on Mercer Street in South Boston, adjacent to the Old Colony Housing Development. They enjoy going to arts and crafts, the computer room, playing across the street in Moakley Park or swimming at Carson Beach. They love being engaged in a variety of activities on a daily basis and like the Tierney staff because they’re nice, caring, and thoughtful. Meet Three Club Kids

They enjoy being part of the South Boston Boys and Girls Club Fun in the Sun program. Two days a week they get to go on field trips to various outdoor venues, watch movies at the Club, splash around in the pool, or play pool, ping pong, and other games in the recreation room. There are plenty of activities to keep them busy and happy during the summertime. The three Club kids are Dazayvion James, Anedson Andrade and Jason Lopes. Kathleen “Kathy” Bitetti is a multi-talented local artist, consultant, and curator. She has lived in South Boston for 20 years, pursuing numerous cultural interests that include public works of art, two of which are being created here in South Boston as you are reading this. Last weekend, true to her devotion to public art, Kathy combined a “Friendraiser” with her birthday brunch (Kathy is forever 29). Now, a “Friendraiser” is a means of generating contributions on a small, intimate scale. About 20 of Kathy’s friends gathered at her place to assist with funding the two works of art mentioned above. The staff at South Boston Online would like to express their condolences to Missy and Ralph Willis, the parents of Kyzr Willis, Kyzr’s brother Ralph, and their extended family and friends, for their loss. Last week, SBOL had the pleasure of sitting down with Kyzr, his older brother Ralph, and Savannah Broxton, their cousin. Kyzr Willis loved watching professional wrestling on TV and listening to rap songs. His favorite colors were red, orange, purple, and blue, all Ninja Turtle colors.
