FLAHERTY Margaret J. “Peggy” (McGlone) of South Boston, passed away suddenly, July 25, 2016, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of 54 years to the Honorable Michael F. Flaherty Sr., retired Justice of the Boston Municipal Court Department and former State Representative of South Boston. Devoted and adored mother of the Honorable Margaret F. “Peggy” Albertson and her husband Sean of Needham, the Honorable Michael F. Flaherty Jr., Boston City-Councilor-at-Large and his wife Laurene of South Boston and John J. Flaherty and his wife Margaret “Maggie” of Milton. Loving and cherished Nana to Brendan, Meagan, and Ryan Albertson, Michael, Ella, and Jack Flaherty, Ryan and Grace Flaherty and Patrick Joyce. Peggy was the daughter of the late Margaret “Peg” and John “Jack” McGlone Sr. and sister of the late John J. McGlone Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Quincy. Loving sister-in-law and aunt to the McGlone and Flaherty families. Peggy was a proud daughter of South Boston. She lived for her children and grandchildren, loved her summers in Manomet, worked tirelessly for St. Brigid Parish as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer. She reveled in Boston politics and was a loyal friend to many. Visiting hours in The O’Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street SOUTH BOSTON, on Thursday from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass in St. Brigid Church, 845 East Broadway South Boston on Friday at 11:00 A.M. Interment New Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend all services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peggy’s honor to Boston College High School, 150 Morrissey Blvd., Dorchester, MA 02125 or Montrose School, 29 North Street, Medfield, MA 02052.
