Twenty-five public-spirited people attended the Narcan training session on Monday, which was sponsored by the Action Center in the Laboure Conference Room. As you certainly know, Boston, and indeed all of Massachusetts, are in the grip of a heroin/opioid overdose epidemic.
Narcan, also known as Naloxone, is quick, effective remedy for opioid overdoses. After an hour or two of training, police, firefighters, EMS personnel, health professionals and even properly trained laypersons can administer it. Narcan is frequently administered as a nasal spray.
