By SUSAN DOUCET Former Boston Mayor Raymond Flynn had a defibrillator implanted after he experienced an “aborted sudden cardiac arrest” last week, which caused a motor vehicle accident on Thursday, Feb. 11. Flynn’s doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital believe “he developed an irregular heart rhythm that led to a drop in blood pressure and loss of consciousness,” according to a statement from Frank Doyle, spokesman for the Flynn family. Early Thursday afternoon, an accident was reported on Flint Place in South Boston, the small, dead end street where Flynn lives. A one-car accident was reported at 12:46 p.m. Thursday, according to Boston Police Lt. Michael McCarthy. "After working out at the Boston Athletic Club for a couple of hours this morning, I drove home and while parking my car on my street, I got weak and completely passed out. Minutes later I woke up, but my car unfortunately had crashed into another house on my street," Flynn wrote in a statement. "Thank God nobody got hurt." Walsh's Office, occurred “while (Flynn was) driving near his home in South Boston.” “Thankfully, Mayor Flynn was not injured, however he has been transported to a local hospital as a precaution,” the statement released Thursday afternoon said, adding that emergency medical services did respond to the scene. St. Peter Academy, the small private school in South Boston, is partnering with Freeman Elementary School in Flint, one of the city’s public schools, to assist children there affected by the ongoing water crisis. “There are bad things happening, and we can make a difference,” said Caitlyn DeCarlo, the first grade teacher at St. Peter Academy. Flint, a city with a population just shy of about 100,000 people, is in the midst of addressing a drinking water contamination crisis. While acknowledging the many problems that the city of Boston still faces, the mayor was still emphatically upbeat. Progress in our city has ranged from reductions in crime, homicides and unemployment to the recent news about General Electric’s relocation to the South Boston waterfront. Symphony Hall was an ideal venue for SOTC 16. The acoustics in Boston’s historic cultural center are unmatched; the decor inside Symphony Hall is an ever-present reminder of the city’s heritage. These girls agreed that if they lived in the White House, they’d stop terrorism, help the homeless, and attempt to make peace the order of the day throughout the world. They are Abby Colvin, McRae Wiederer and Cara DiMaggio. Abby Colvin is the daughter of Michelle and Brian Colvin. She also has two sisters, Vicky and Michaela, and three family cats named Lilly, Holly, and Kitty. She’s a sixth-grader at the Perry Elementary School in South Boston. GE announced in a statement Wednesday that it will relocate its headquarters to Boston, leaving Hartford, Conn. “Boston was selected after a careful evaluation of the business ecosystem, talent, long-term costs, quality of life for employees, connections with the world and proximity to other important company assets,” the company announced in a statement on its website. The company said its new headquarters will be in the Seaport District, though an exact address has not been announced.
